Day 39: Pau, France

I had a really slow start today.  I had intended to wake up early and do some laundry, but I wake up about an hour later than intended.  See, what had happened was: Last night, I was doing homework, and it was 23h 15, and I said(not out loud) "I bet I can finish my devoirs by 23h 45.  Later, I was getting close to done, and I thought "hm, I bet I went over time."  It was 00h 50.   I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!! Ntway, by the time I finished everything and went to sleep it was pretty late.

Since I didn't have enough time to do laundry, I used the time I did have to play a tiny bit.  I then got ready for school and went to class.  I was pretty sure I liked my Tuesday teacher better.  Today, I realized that I like my Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday teacher better.  How fortuitous...  We are learning l'imparfait and passe compose.  Neither are new to me, but it is a good review.  Also, my class is really easy for almost everybody, and we are moving very quickly.  We have almost passed the next level above us.

Anyway, after class one, I went to La Vague for lunch.

This is the kind of meal that'll make the students go on strike.
It was actually very good, if quite white.  But speaking of strikes, I am experiencing my first.  Yesterday the Poste was on strike, but today they are not.  I guess they got whatever they wanted.  The buses are also on strike.  Well, actually, the buses are completely willing to work.  However, the drivers do not share the sentiment.  Yesterday I had this conversation with Jean-Francois, my "pere d'accueil".  This is a term I just made up that means: "host dad"

JF: There is going to be a strike tomorrow.
A: Oh, really?
JF: Yup.
A: For...?
JF: For nothing.

I LOL'd.  It was really more of a chuckle.  But anyway, no buses.

Anyway, my afternoon class was really great and fun.

After class, I went home, and practiced a lot.  I am working on C and C#--basically everything you can do in those two keys.  Ooh just for fun, I am going to find excerpts in the key and add those to the routine.  Who wants to buy my method book?

Dinner was really awesome.  We had broccoli, which is apparently very new to France.  JF called in an Anglo Saxon legume.  And tomatoes that were baked with some stuff on top, and potatoes that were baked with some type of pesto type stuff on top. After dinner is over we always drink wine and eat cheese before desert.  Desert is always compote(French for "goop") or fruit or yogurt with sugar or jam.  Sometimes Thom, the oldest son and amateur baker/pastry chef makes something that tastes really good.  I literally have not eaten one single thing in this house that I haven't liked.

After dinner I played a little more, and then my family went to sleep, so I organized stuff in my room.
