Day 68: Pau, France

Today was pretty good.  I woke up early again, but I felt very tired so I just slept for 40 more minutes.  In my elective, we started preparing for this small performance we are giving.  We are reciting some works by Ramond Queneau. It is form his 1946 work, Exercices de Style.  Basically, he wrote a story in prose.  He then re-wrote the same story in 98 additional ways.  It is pretty clever.  We are, as a group, reciting the original story, and then versions in onomatopoeia, exclamations, and a logic analysis.  It's cool.

At lunch, the English department hosted a "tea party" so the French students learning English could talk to us.  I talked with Ryan about opportunities for coming back to France.  He said that through the French Embassy, it is pretty easy to come here and teach English.  It sounds like a really cool thing, and it is definitely something I want to think about doing.

I also went and bought this creme brulee and a mineral water.  It was a good lunch time.

After class, I went home briefly before walking to the train station.  Angela met up with me and we walked there together.  I needed to buy a ticket for my train trip tomorrow for Carcassonne.  Look it up.

  2. Apprécier la crème brûlée, alors que tu sois jeune, mon fils. C'est mon préféré, comme tu le sait, mais mortelle.
