Today started really badly(Tuesday), but ended really well. I somehow woke up in time for class this morning, even though I slept for about 8 minutes last night after working on that dumb, dumb test all night. My class dragged, because it is 3 hours long, and boring. At lunch, I rewrote my mid-term and anwered one final question. As I copied my work, I realized that everything I was writing was total crap. I will probably get a C on this mid-term. After my class in the afternoon, I went to French Lit. REALLY difficult, mostly because I was tired. We talked about the fables of Jean de La Fontaine. It was a pretty good class. We also got done 30 minutes early! You have just been misled. Oops. We got out 30 minutes early so we could meet 90 minutes later, downtown, to go to a play. It was a reenactment of about 3 million of La Fontaine's fables. The play was at the Theatre St. Louis, so it was cool to be on the audience side of it.

It was a bummer not going in this door tonight. |
I was pretty annoyed at the limited amount of time we got to leave class get changed and get down town.

This was my snack, because I didn't have time to eat dinner. It was cookie-y stuff, and almonds, and "good" chocolate. It was ok. |

Laura is hiding behind her scarf. Not doing a very good job. |
The fables of La Fontaine are basically the same as all of our fables, but they are about a lot more difficult to understand. (Because they are in French.) Some of the stories where very funny. And some where a little morbid.

The actors were actually pretty good, and it was a fairly enjoyable activity. I was soo tired though, so it was difficult at times for me to pay attention. Also, I kept getting distracted! There was some story about a butterfly and a something else. I missed literally all of it. Every word. All I could think about was how much the butterfly looked like Sauron's Eye. My thought process went something like this: "Omg what is that? Oh, it's the butterfly. OMG IT LOOKS LIKE SAURON'S EYE!!! LIKE, COMPLETELY. [Tells Laura it looks like Sauron's Eye.] Omg I have to record this. OMG. OMG IT IS LOOKING AT ME. [Hides Camera.] Fable Ends.
After the play ended, I went out to Le Garage with Laura, Rehana and Jeff. I was exhausted, but it was great to go out and have fun.
After, Laura and I went across the street to get kabobs. They were really good. It ended up being a really fun night, and I had a great time.
It's hard to parse all those syllables out into words, even if you know every word in the sentence. I heard "papillon"! When we were living in Montreal, your Mom could always understand French better than I, even though I could speak it better. I'm sure it was some fundamental difference in how our brains are wired. At any moment now the "French Language" circuits in your brain could activate. Just be patient.
ReplyDeleteI hope you got a better house for your opera performances than for the fables.
In any case, don't worry about the Eye of Sauron. It's the Eyes of Texas that are upon you... all the live long day. (And just in case you get any ideas.... Do not think you can escape them. You cannot get away.)
