Day 5: Pau, France

So today was my first day in Pau.  I am technically writing this on Day 6, so none of it really seems all that important to me now.  I got on a plane, in London, and flew to France.  I accomplished a life long goal, in walking out to my plane and climbing up some stair to get in. So sweet.  The flight was pretty quick and uneventful.

This was my first real view of France.  The stadium belongs to the Toulouse rugby team, the reigning French champions.

After I landed in Toulouse, I took a bus to the train station and took a train to Pau.  The train was very nice, and I slept for most of the trip.  There were curtains on the window, and my seat was huge.  And very soft and comfortable.

This is what France looks like when you are going 100 mph.

Finally I made it to Pau.  I was mostly excited because I still had my passport, luggage and trumpet. Anyway, I got picked up by my nice host lady mom, Corine, and she took me to her home, where I promptly went to sleep. I slept about 3 hours, and missed most of dinner, but there were fine with it.  They sat with me while I ate.  She made quiche.  The best quiche I have ever eaten in my entire life, ever.  It was SO good.  Basically, if I turned around and flew home today, it's be worth it.

My first view of Pau.
After dinner, I went to sleep really early, and then I woke up and went to school.

This is my room.  It is on the 3rd floor (in the attic).  It is awesome, except sometimes, it is really hot in here.  It is cool though, because I am in here alone, and nobody else is on this floor, so I have a little space to myself.  Also, this house is like 100 years old and it is sweet.  Also, because I am in the attic, there are no houses higher than me, so I have a pretty nice view.

My pretty nice view.

  1. Sounds like a great first day in Pau! Great room! I wonder how it will be once it gets cold outside? Hopefully it will continue to be warm. And you're right, it is a pretty nice view!

Have you had time to determine if there is much interest in the Rugby World Cup in your part of the world? No games televised her until US is playing--figures!
